Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Mexico

I have a tenant that is in the hospital with terminal cancer. His best friend says that he is my tenants power of attourney and that my tenant will not be returning to the apartment. He said he will be cleaning out the apartment my the end of the month. I believe him, but should I get some proof from him that he is the power of attourney?

Absolutely. You should have a clear, faithful, copy. It should show it has been filed with the County Clerk of Bernalillo County, and should not be more than one year old.
