Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Mexico

Life Insurance

Our mother passed away almost three years ago. We have just found out that she had life insurance, our sister is the assigned representative for our mothers estate, but has not included the insurance, house, car and other items. How could we find out how much it was for and who the beneficiaries are?

Re: Life Insurance

Life insurance proceeds are not part of a probate and are paid to the designated beneficiaries upon presentation of a claim to the company. You will have to contact the issuing life insurance company or the selling agent to find out the information you seek, or file a petition in the pending probate requesting that information.
