If you are charged with a criminal charge, such as criminal possession of marijuana, get a lawyer. You may feel that this is a minor offense, but a criminal record can follow you around for the rest of your life.
He absolutely should, if it is reasonably affordable to you... And if not you should sacrifice in order to do so as a criminal record for a drug charge cooed potentially follow him for the rest of his life.
