Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

approx 6 months ago i had my personal laptop (cost of over $1500) stolen from an volunteer ambulance garage while i was on a call in thier district. my employer a commercial ambulance covers thier area during the day due to a lack of volunteers. the board of directors kept stalling on whether to reimburse me or not and now finally decide not to claiming it wasnt thier property and they are not responsible. it had to be done by one of thier volunteers because the building was secured when we left and there was no signs of forced entry. it had to be someone who knew the door code and knew we are on a call in thier district. now i am out the money i spent and my laptop computer. do i have a case to take them to small claims court and try to recover the money i spent on the laptop stolen from thier property?

It can't hurt to try. Bring a copy of any receipts

you have as well as any incident reports.

The court may help you. Good luck.
