Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

My husband & I own a house in NY. Before he abandoned me he signed a quit claim deed giving me his interest. He will not sign the necessary paperwork so I can have the deed filed. I am lost and don't know what to do.

Thank You.

A properly executed quit claim deed can be filed with the County Clerk. It may be in your best interest to have an attorney review the deed signed by your husband.

I am guessing that you mean he signed the actual deed document, but not the necessary "transfer documents" required to record the deed. If this is the case, it will probably not be possible to record the deed until he does sign those documents (tax forms mainly). Was there any court order or settlement agreement involving this property? If there was, it would likely be the best starting point in persuading him to sign. Good luck.
