Re: misdemeanor punishments

You may not have to plead guilty to a misdemeanor; you may be offered a plea bargain, in which you plead guilty to lesser offense for some lower penalty/fine/community service.

If convicted after trial, or if you plead guilty to a misdemeanor, the sentence could be no jail/ probation/ up to a year in jail / fine or any combination. Much depends on your prior criminal case history (whether you have a criminal record).

Re: misdemeanor punishments

You could be facing up to a year incarceration or three years probation. If this is your first arrest you could end up pleading to a lesser charge and get no jail time or probation. If you take the case to trial you may receieve a stiffer sentence if convicted, but it would not be more than 1 year (if you win at trial the case is over). Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to discuss this case and your options in more detail.
