N.Y. Correct. Law makes it unlawful for public employers,occupational licensing authorities, and private employers with more than 10 employees, to discriminate against current or potential employees based on a previous conviction. Employers and licensing agencies may not disqualify people based upon their criminal record unless disqualification is mandated by law, and the person has not received a certificate of relief from disabilities or certificate of good conduct.
