dissmissed lawyer

can i terminate the lawyer that i hired to file a disability (social security)i am not happy w/their service

please advise

It is hard for me to give you a full answer without knowing all the circumstances, but the general answer is "yes" -- you are free to terminate a lawyer's services. However, this does not mean you can avoid all responsibilities to the lawyer--for instance, if you have an agreement with him or her, the agreement will still apply, and you still owe whatever payment is required by the agreement. But you can tell the lawyer you want him or her to stop representing you, and you can stop any further work from being done.
