Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

A neighbor got into a confrontation in front of my doorway. He push me and my 2 year old to hit my husband and my husband showed him a knife and told him to get away. He put the knife away and it was settled, but when the cops came they arrested my husband. He is being charged with Menacing. At the arraignment, the judge let him go with no bail, but told him to stay away from the home (2 weeks). Because of the Temp order protection and to give what he called a cool off period. The next court date is to see if the neighbor pursued the complaint and if he will show up in court. What are some possible outcome on this menacing charge? How can we protect his record of employment?
