Legal Question in Disability Law in New York
I recently needed to see my mneurologist who specializes in the treatment of dystonia, a condition thaty is exemplified by paralysis in the back of the neck. I was supposed tpo be transported by CHMedical Transport, a private company that contracts with Monroe County to transport medicaid eligible patients to and from doctors appointments. They were told to take me to neurology at Strong Memorial Hospital; in Rochester. But the reality was that he was located at one of Strong's satellite locations. When I explained this to the driver, he called his boss Lenny, at CHMedical, and Lenny told him that because of insurance concerns, that he he had two options, which were to take me to the hospital and let them figure it out. The other option was to take me home. We ended up in a parking lot, while I called my doctor's office and explained the situation. they were very supportive. I chose to go home, because I taking me to the hospital would have been senseless. The main point is that I want to know if this was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and what are my best options.

Your situation is not a violation of the ADA. It is best handled by you making your other arrangements to take you to your destination.
