Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

Statute of Limitations

I am in a similiar situation to question posted 6/21/02. I have received a letter from an agency that has purchased an account that has not had any activity for at least 10 years. How do I answer this letter? Should I request a validation of the debt or inform them of the statute of limitations (of which I am sure they are aware?
