Legal Question in Administrative Law in New York
A case for small claims court???
I purchased a personal computer under my name. An agreement was made between my fiance (at the time) and myself that he could have the computer if he made the monthly payments. We are no longer together and the computer is in his possesion. He has not made the payments and my name has been sent to a collections agency. I offered to pay the balance due on the computer and in return he would give the computer to me. He refused. I would like him to pay the balance on the computer in full so that my name is cleared of any debt. Or I would like to take the computer and pay the balance myself. Can a judge make this decision. I do not want my credit ruined any further. Please help!

Re: A case for small claims court???
If the total amount due is less than $2500, small claims court would have jurisdiction. Name both you ex-fiance and the seller as defendants. Go to court on the return date and let the judge or arbitrator sort it out.
