Legal Question in Administrative Law in New York

Collecting a Judgment

As a result of a trial in Civil Court of New York City, I have a judgment against a defendant in both his personal and corporate status. The personal judgment is against an individual who is also a principal in a corporation against which I secured a judgment. Both defendants are defendants in the same legal action; the decision and judgment are the same for both defendants.

Now I need to collect the judgment. I have engaged a NYC marshall to collect from the corporation because it is located in NYC. I also would like to undertake a collection effort against the personal defendant in Nassau County where he resides. However, limits on the NYC marshall's jurisdiction prevent him from working in Nassau County.

Is it feasible to engage a second marshall in Nassau County to implement a collection effort concerned with the personal assets of the debtor? Because the debtor lives in Nassaus County, this is the location of his personal assets. Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Collecting a Judgment

I would be concerned that the first Marshal would want his fees from you, (which can be substantial) if the second Marshall is successful in collecting the judgment.
