Legal Question in Banking Law in New York
Disputed payment
I received a check that had payment in full written on the memo section of the check. The payment amount is not the full amount owed. If I deposit the check am I out the missing amount?

Re: Disputed payment
If the check does have "payment in full" on it, then whatever debt was owed is generally considered satisfied if the check is deposited. Best you ask whoever cut you the check to write another one, MINUS the "payment in full" language.
