Legal Question in Banking Law in New York
My Father who is a US citizen is incarcerated abroad and I need to pay his bills. The one account that he had was closed due to low funds.
I have a couple of cheques in his name paid by his clients. How can i deposit these cheques? If I need an account in his name, how can i open it? He gave me the power of attorney but the power of attorney is not in NYS state format. My only goal is to be able to withdraw those cheques and pay his rent bill as he wants to keep his apartment.

Speak to an attorney who is familiar with bank rules and regulations on how banks can accept such checks. There is a way without your father having a bank account; however, I do not discuss such detailed matters over cyberspace.
