Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Bankruptcy

When is a bankruptcy case over. Do I need to do anything else after my fees are all paid and I've done post-credit counseling.

Re: Bankruptcy

A bankruptcy case is over when the court either orders the debts to be discharged or dismisses the case without discharging the debts (and this happens more frequently now under the new bankruptcy act that came in a couple of years ago). Either way, you'll get a notice in the mail from the court.

I have no way of knowing whether you need to do anything else, since I don't know the progress of your case or even what chapter of the bankruptcy code you filed under. The attorney who is handling the matter can advise you (you DO have an attorney handling this matter?).
