Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Bankruptcy Damage

I consider myself to have execllent credit but I recently had to file for bankruptcy in order to stop a credit action that was going to be filed against me. The bankruptcy lasted for about 3 months, but then the need to have the bankruptcy active was gone, therefore I submitted a request to the court to withdraw my bankruptcy and the judge dismissed my case with prejudice. What I want to know is will this still have a negative effect on my credit file even though I did not actually go bankrupt?

Can I have it removed from my credit file on the basis that I did not actually go bankrupt? Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bankruptcy Damage

Yes it will have a negative impact as it is a public record that you filed for bankruptcy. You can add your own notation to the credit report.
