Judgments are public records that can remain on a credit report. However, the credit reporting agency should indicate that the debt is discharged in bankruptcy.
Because this data can remain, consumers are better off filing for bankruptcy before getting a judgment, rather than after, even though the bankruptcy discharges the debt either way.
