Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Bankruptcy for legal non U.S.Citizens

Hello,

I have lived in New York since 1966. But have not yet applied for citizenship. I have been going thru finanical problems, and would like to know, if I file for Bankruptcy, how would that affect my application for citizenship?

Thank you,

Resident aliens are free to file for bankruptcy. In order to answer your question about your citizenship application you need to consult an immigration lawyer.

The only way filing for Bankruptcy could affect you directly is if you lie on your Bankruptcy petition. Please call my office at 718-888-3108 to further discuss your case.
