Getting bankruptcy records

Bankruptcy case files are public records. Ifthe case was recent or is still open, the fileshould be in the Office of the Clerk of the relevant bankruptcy court, available there forpublic inspection. Copies are available fromthe clerk's office or, in some cases, from aprivate copy service with an office in the courthouse. Prices and terms vary.

If the case is older, it will have to be retrieved from the archives. To do that, youfile a request for retrieval with the clerk ofthe relevant court, along with a fee ($25?).The file will be sent to the court in a few days and will be available for you to review and copy.
