Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

What does the Ch. 13 bankruptcy status ''closed'' mean?

I have a debtor who filed for

Chapter 13 bankruptcy and online search result reveals that the case was ''closed.''

My question would be the following:

1. What does that mean?

2. Is there a way to find the actual disposition of the case or the workout plan?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A closed case is just that; a case that is no longer actively before the court.

You can get most the documents on file in any case filed in recent years in the federal court system, which includes the bankruptcy system, with a PACER password (those that are unavailable are documents sealed by the court). Go to http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/ to obtain one. Bear in mind that the documents are NOT available for free; they cost, at this time (9/6/2008), $0.08/page. The documents associated with your debtor's bankruptcy case will tell you exactly what happened with that matter. You can search the PACER case index by party name if you don't know the case number.
