Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Church Tax return non-compliance

The treasurer of my church for the year 2001 has refused to give to me or any other member of the church the necessary papers to file our taxes. Besides this staunch refusal, investigation proved that she and the previous treasurers absolutely refuse and will not produce any documentation to show how the church's funds have been allocated for many years (I estimate 1993-1997 and possibly more) and presently. What legal steps can be taken to make the treasurer(s) produce the vitally necessary paperwork?

Re: Church Tax return non-compliance

This question was posted under a bankruptcy heading. Who is going bankrupt, you or the church? All legal procedures which end in litigation have discovery rules. The answers and documents you require can be obtained in bankruptcy by bringing an Adversary Proceeding against the debtor. Thus, given the meager information provided in the question, an answer is not possible. More information is needed.
