Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Can consent judgments be wiped out?

I signed a consent of judgment for a credit card debt. I am now going to file for Chapter 7, would bankruptcy be able to get rid of this type of judgment?

Re: Can consent judgments be wiped out?

It sounds like what you signed was a "confession of judgment." A chapter 7 filing would indeed have the effect of discharging your personal obligation to pay this judgment.
