Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
I filed for bankruptcy and in the interim my parent passed away and I am a co-beneficiary of the estate. The amount I am going to receive far exceeds what I owe in debt (approx. $10,000.00 in debt). I received some money already and have sent a check for what I owe plus a commisison (I was told the trustee gets a commission although I was never told that at the beginning) and they have not cashed that check and I have other money in a firm from my parent that is currently frozen (because the court contacted them) and now I am told they want more money. Are they entitled to more money and why, if I paid everything off? I feel like I am being shaken down and how much more money should I have to pay?
Thank you.
