Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
I was the guarantor on my son's Sallie Mae Student Loan. My son passed away Dec 2007. They are now seeking to collect this debt from me. I am eligble for Social Security in Sep this year, and presently and for a while past, Unemployed. My only income at this point is Social Security survivors benefits from my deceased wife. WIll bankruptcy filing relieve me of this debt?
