hold on bank account

A credit card company placed a hold on my bank account. Can they also garnish my wages?

Creditors have multiple ways that they can enforce judgments and they are not limited to just pursuing one method. You didn't mention that the credit card company obtained a judgement against you, but generally that is the only way that they can restrain a bank account. With the judgment, the creditor can also garnish your wages.

If you file for bankruptcy, the automatic stay will prevent the creditor from taking any further action, and you will be able to unfreeze your bank account.
