Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Not sure what to do.

Yet again I do not have a job and no one is hiring me. I have creditors calling me galore and now threatening that I need to get an attorney. I have tried to call these places back and left messages and they don't call me back. And if they have, they have yet to leave a message. I am in debt with a lot of things seeing I have not had a steady job in a year. Should I file for bankruptcy? I am lost and not sure what to do. I have basically no money. Help!!

You may very well be best filing for Chapter 7 and you may be able to qualify and get rid of your debts.

In addition to Mr. Silver's comment, please be aware that bankruptcy attorneys can cost a fair chunk of change too. You may qualify for the services of your county's Legal Aid Society, which provides free or reduced-fee services to people with little or no money. You might give them a call.

If you DO qualify for Legal Aid, accepting their services is NOT accepting charity. Legal Aid is funded by the interest that accumulates from month to month on lawyers' trust accounts. This is not a charitable donation, and it is not funded with tax dollars.

Good luck.
