Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
Judgements, Bank Account Froze, Currently Unemployed- need advice
I currently have three judgements against me (NYS $4100, and two civil totaling $3600), Credit Card Debt totaling $10k (3 companies) and one of which (Cross Country Bank) has recently froze my bank account. I have numerous other medical and credit accounts totaling 4k currently in collection, 10 months left on a leased vehicle (cosigned by parents, and 55k in total student loans. I just recently lost my job and in the meanwhile will be recieving unemployment benefits. Should I consider bankruptcy for 20k, will my bank accounts be released (checking, savings, 401k remain untouched), and will I still be liable for the judgements? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
