Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
paying back a chapter 7
I recieved a settlement after I was involved in a mva wich led me to chapter 7. Now the trustee has held my very large settlement for 11 months and next week I have a hearing and he has approved to over pay the credit card com. 20000.00 over what I owe them and he has ok a 11000.00 pay day for himself out of my money is there any thing I can do to stop all this extra money out of my pocket?

Re: paying back a chapter 7
Yes, you can back to the attorney who prepared your chapter 7 bankruptcy filing and engage him/her to evaluate the proposed settlement and protect your rights. If you didn't hire an attorney and did it on your own or with a paralegal service that is unfortunate.
Good luck,
