Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
I'm in the process of chapter 7 bancruptcy and I'm not happy with the way my lawyer is handling things. I had the 1400 dollars available to pay the lawyer and decided to get that out of the way and pay for the fees. We have not filed yet. Can I get my money back from the law firm?
1 Answer from Attorneys
I'm in the process of chapter 7 Most people are not happy wth the process of filing for chapter 7. The attorney is probably just doing his job according to the letter of the law. The one thing that will irritate a bankrptcy lawyer is a client who wants his money back because he finds out that he could loose something in the filing process, such as a tax refund, and this after the attorney has spent time working with you and for you. Allthough you may be entitled to a partial refund, you can't have it all back.
