Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
Out of State Apartment Lease and my bankruptcy
Hi, I reside in NY now and my husband is stuck in an apartment in NJ. Unfortunetly, we are tied to a lease for another 10 months there. Since we are planning to file for bankruptcy in NY state in another few months anyways (after I've established residency), can I bring him home and just put the broken apartment lease on our bankruptcy? Is there any special rule I need to know since the lease is out of state?

If you qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which I can only tell you after a thorough evaluation of your situation in a Free consultation, then this debt should be dischargeable.
