Re: Time frame from a cash advance to bankruptcy

Your answer depends on the use to which you put the credit card cash advance. However, in most cases, the time may be measured in months or years, not in days.

You need a lawyer to help you through a bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is NOT a simple process; it is one fraught with pitfalls and the potential to earn the ire of the court or the trustee (something you do NOT want to do). Hire an attorney who is located in your immediate geographic area; there are piles of bankruptcy lawyers throughout New York State. References are available through the New York State Bar Association (www.nysba.org). If you cannot afford one, contact the Legal Aid Society in your county to see if you qualify for their free-and-excellent services.

Good luck.
