Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
Trustee Responsibility to Creditors
I am a creditor in a bankruptcy action. I just received a notice from the Trustee stating that assets were found. Does the Trustee have to report the amount? How can I get him to disclose the amount so I know if it's worth filing a claim? Also, he's getting Order for an attorney for himself (he's a lawyer so I don't know why he needs a lawyer) and an accountant? Is he just getting his friends money, or is this legit? Thanks.

Re: Trustee Responsibility to Creditors
Congratulations! This is an unusual event.
Quickly, write to the Trustee that (1) you want to claim your share of the assets and (2) you want the Trustee to identify the assets.
Then, quickly, see an attorney to further make your claim. The informal letter can be of great help to you, but you must follow up on it to get any assets.
You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.
