Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Advice on registering company name
We are starting a new recording studio.
We would like to use TF Audio Works and for a record label use Mindsight Records. Do we need to file for two separate companies or will TF Audio cover both?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can register either one as a New York
State Business Corporation with the Secretary of State. Check first for availability by calling them in Albany...Division of Corporations and State Records. However, you have a problem with whichever one you choose to be your record label in that you must check for prior use by someone else both on the State and National level and register your label under the New York law and under the Federal Trademark Act. Mindsight is a catchy name and may have been used or reserved.
