Legal Question in Business Law in New York

How would someone argue to terminate their car lease (after 1 year) due to physical ailment, trying to avoid hefty early termination fees?

That is no reason to terminate your lease. I mean, if the terms of your agreement allow for such an excuse, that's one thing, but unless they release you (and they may if you had a really good argument) you are still going to be on the hook.

They might release you if it seemed pretty clear that you no longer had any way to make payments and you were judgment proof meaning even if they sued there is nothing to go after.

I mean, this is why they have those termination fees. You would not be terminating because of some medical reason, it would be because you can no longer pay. Rich people with lots of money get sick and injured as well.

If you would like to discuss further over a free phone consult, feel free to contact me anytime that is convenient.

Kind regards,

Frank
