Legal Question in Business Law in New York
We are attemptig to start our own business. We have a limited partnership established in Kings County (NY State) with a registered name and State Tax Number ID. We want to establish an LLC. Could we use the same name as the limitied Partnership for the LLC?
Do we need to refile and register the LLC with NY State?
What is the cost involved?
Is there an annual renewal fee assocciated wit either the Parntnership ofr the LLC?
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thank you!

If you have registered the corporate name of the LP with the state it is unlikely that they will let you use the name again for the LLC. However, if you have simply registered a DBA with the county, it won't be a problem.
The fees for LLC registration include a filing fee and certificate of publication....total $250. But you'll probably also want expedited service...so add $25.00.
