Audio taping without permission or knowledge
Is it legal for someone to audio tape their coworkers without their permission or knowledge that they are being recorded?

It depends. In NY if you are part of a conversation, you may tape it without the other party being aware of it. It is illegal however to bug the conversations of others that you are not a part of. Moreover, management may not even videotape without placing that information on the walls and notifying the employees of their use of video equiptment.
