Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Booster Club Money
My children belonged to an Allstar Cheerleading gym. We belonged to the booster club there and have around $300 in it. They recently closed and one of the owners opened her own. We went to a different gym and they will not give me the money back so I can put it towards her expenses at the other cheer gym. Do I have any legal avenues?? I believe they should give us the money.

Re: Booster Club Money
Your answer lies in the contract you signed with the original gym, so your question is not answerable here with any degree of certainty.
In the real world, though, I'd drop it. You didn't spend $thousands, and your kids (and you) presumably did get a benefit from the old gym. The old gym may have closed because it was losing money, in which case it won't have the $300 to refund to you. Your zip code is that of a reasonably affluent area, which says you probably don't need the $300 to put food on your table. Pushing legally to get $300 back burns a LOT of bridges; why do that to yourself and your kids over what is, in the big picture, a drop in the bucket?
However, if it keeps you up at night and you really do want to pursue it, your answer lies in the contract, and, if you feel you're entitled to a refund after reading the contract carefully, you can take the matter to small claims court in the county in which the gym did business. You don't need an attorney in small claims.
