Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Business Landlord/Tenant Issue Latches

Can someone explain the legal term

'Latches' to me, or point me to the

appropriate website where I can look

it up? Does it apply to rent checks

not cashed, rent not paid, both or

something else? What is the time

frame...6 months, a year, something

else?

I am being taken to court by the

landlord who is known for not

cashing checks timely, if at all and is

completely unresponsive to written

communication. I have missed

writing a few over the years, but he

is trying to go back to 2003. The

first time he communicated about

any of it was 2/2008. This in in NY

State.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Business Landlord/Tenant Issue Latches

See dictionary.law.com (no "www" in front of it) for a good definition of "laches" (not "latches"). Laches generally does not have a specific timeframe associated with it; it is not a statute of limitations.

Beyond that, your question needs to be rephrased; we have no clue about what you are talking.
