Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Business Question
Three years ago I closed a tire recycling corp. When I closed I cleaned out a warehouse I was sub-renting from another scrap tire co. About one year after I left he had to move because the company he was leasing the warehouse from sold the building. When he left he put any tires he had in storage trailers and moved them to a new location. He is now calling me and telling me they were tires I left in the building and that he wants me to dispose of them or he will inform the DEC and take legal action. What can I do?

Re: Business Question
Your next step is to hire a lawyer. Yours is WAY too complex a matter for this board.
Find an attorney who practices locally to you (I don't) in the areas of contracts and leases and DEC agency rules (get a referral from your county's bar association or from the NYS Bar Association at www.nysba.org), and retain him or her so you have good, solid advice as to how to protect your rights in this matter. If you need to settle for only one of the listed practice concentrations to find your lawyer, go with the one who handles DEC matters; it's likely that s/he will have a good grounding in contracts and leases, too, or access to someone who does.
