Buying an existing business

If I buy an existing business, do I have to honor its past contracts?

Re: Buying an existing business

Well, yup with a caveat. If the contracts are in the name of the business, then yup. If, though, the contract is in the name of the former owner, or if the former owner made a personal guarantee on the contract, then maybe not.

Good luck.

Re: Buying an existing business

When buying a business, you or preferably an attorney should fully investigate the company, its assets, liabilities and contractual obligations. This is to ensure you are fully and legally aware of the business you are purchasing, and it's value, as you could be liable for contacts and debts etc...

My law office is available to assist you with this business purchase, feel welcome to contact me at your convenience.
