Candaian using Tax Id # in NYC
I'm a Canadian citizen living in NY, I also have my own Corp. I wanted to be employed by another company while working for my own using the id number/EIN # I got form my Corp. Would this be possible? (Being on another companies payroll)

Re: Candaian using Tax Id # in NYC
Do you mean using the EIN on your personnel records at the other employer in place of a Social Security number? That can be done **if** you are an independent contractor in regards to the employer. That makes you responsible for your own withholding taxes, benefits, etc. You must also meet the IRS standards for independent contractor; they're pretty specific and they're pretty tetchy about allowing the status to any who sort of meet it but not quite.
What you propose can be done; it just comes with a price. Talk with your accountant or tax lawyer to determine the price you would pay.
Good luck.
