I own a carpet cleaning business but subcontract all my work. The subcontractor has business liability insurance. Do I need to still have insurance?

Yes, as you as the prime contractor can also be sued.

You need your own insurance. It is likely that you will be the main party who is sued if there is a problem since your customers hired you and not your subcontractor.
