Legal Question in Business Law in New York

If I claim on my website that my brand has been seen on x, y, and z (displaying actual logos of those companies), but I actually only bought advertising space on x, y and z (i.e. banners with my brand) would that be legal? Technically my logo/ brand has indeed been seen on these sites (through my banner ads), but I didnt have a real article or anything like that with them.

I would need more information to give you a definitive answer however it does not appear that you've done anything illegal. The word "illegal" generally refers to criminal laws.It doesn't appear to me that you've committed a crime. then again, I am not a criminal defense attorney so you may wish to post your query under "Criminal Defense" rather than Business Law.

I think the question you are asking is, "Can someone sue me?" I don't see anything for which you could be sued. On the contrary, X, Y and Z are getting free SEO and free publicity by your mentioning them and you haven't made any defamatory or fraudulent statements which would offend X, Y and Z.

If X, Y or Z or anyone else contacts you and asks you to remove the logos, you can simply remove the logos or call an attorney to determine your rights.
