Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Contract for services for a minor child

My 5yr old child was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive tendencies and severe separation anxiety. Her counselor recommended extracurricular activities. We'd tried several (sports, etc) but after a month or two she would become overwhelmed and quit. The last activity was martial arts. One of the options the school offered was one month trial, then enrollment via a contract for one year with monthly payments (and a large downpayment). After a VERY successful first month, we signed the contract. A month after that she suddenly became scared again and refused to go. We are now faced with a contract requiring us to pay a total of $900 for one month of lessons. We're trying to help her, but can't force her to go. The contract can be broken if she can't continue for a medical reason confirmed by a doctor. Can you help? Do we stand a chance of breaking this contract and getting any money back?

Re: Contract for services for a minor child

Do the obvious and get the medical

doctor to write a note saying that it

is not medically advisable to continue

due to the reaction.
