Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Contract Terminated
After 20 years as this NY based mfr's. area representative,
my contract( with standard 30 day clause) was abruptly terminated because they feel they can be doing more business with another rep).
How can I be awarded a prize(one of many through the years) less than a year ago for one of their best performing territories, to be told now that my area is underperforming? My dealers are shocked, I am desperate, as this line represents most of my income, and although I have never made
a lot of maney from this line, I foolishly stuck with them through thick and thin always looking for ''the light at the end of the tunnel''.And now this......
I think I deserve better, my dealers all agree that any problems that exist are soley due to the company's refusal to address the needs and desires of their customer base as well as gross reliability issues and lack of proper advertising and promotion for over 2 years.
I don't have a pension coming, hardly anything saved and I dont have much money for a lawyer.
Is this hopeless? Do I have a chance of getting any kind of severence pay?
Thanks for listening.
