Legal Question in Business Law in New York
I co-own a small business in Syracuse, NY and my partner and I orally agreed to a 50/50 partnership several months ago. We do not have a legal agreement in writing and my partner is now refusing to work with me and claiming I was never his partner. I invested several thousands of dollars into the business which was used to buy new equiptment and supplies that I am now in danger of losing. I have evidence such as personal business cards identifying me as a co-owner as well as several witnesses with knowledge of our partnership that we have done work for. With just an oral agreement am I legally entitles to collect my initial investment back?

You may have a suit for breach of contract and a partnership agreement based on company documents (business cards, letter head, canceled checks, bills).
