If someone does a craft and wants to sell at a craft fair, do they need to have a tax idea number? Especially if it is only once in a while when they do a craft fair? Thank you

Any revenues received from sales of your crafts can be reported as personal income under your own SSN. If you decide to transition this "once in a while" thing to an actual business, then you should strongly consider creating a business entity for personal protection. Then a Tax ID number would be required.
My office has experience forming business entities and obtaining tax ID numbers. Feel free to contact me for a free consultation.
