Damages or destruction to my belongings in a rented storage room/space

My personal,professional/business,intellectual property in my rental storage was destroyed (by water that came into the my storage room)and i was advised (BY STORAGE MANAGEMENT) to file a claim;is there anything you can do for me or do you know who would, keeping in mind that i am in new york and the insurance company is a corporation of california?

If you have insurance, most definitely file claim. Also, if an investigation was done, find out what caused the flood. If it was negligence caused by the landlord, you may have a claim against them as well.

As far as your intellectual property, that cannot be destroyed by the flood, because it is an intangible asset. In other words, your intellectual property was your good will, trademarks and your copyrights, which have not been affected.
