Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Dear Sir/Madame,

I am building a web page with a new concept of making web enquiries.

I would like to know if it is possible to protect the "new concept" and how to do it efficiently (i.e. without spending too much money and having to wait too long)

I would like to know if it is legal to use emails found on the internet to contact new users for promoting a new web site.

You have a couple of options to protect your concept. One is to protect the code for the site through patent, which is a major investment but can provide some really superb protection. The other is to protect the work through copyright, which is NOT a major investment and protects the site as a "work of authorship."
